Gosforth Amateur Dramatic Society is based in the village of Gosforth, in the county of Cumbria, England – that’s about as far north as you can go up the west coast without crossing the Scottish border. Cumbria is the bit that sticks out into the Irish Sea just north of Morecambe Bay. It contains the Lake District and lots of tourists.

Here’s a map which gives the location of Gosforth. As you see, it’s just off the A595 between Ravenglass and Whitehaven. Just down the road is Wastwater, England’s deepest lake, overlooked by Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. Here there are rather fewer tourists, but the most beautiful views in the land.
