is back
We will be meeting in the Function Room at the Kellbank, at 7:30pm on
Tuesday 3 February
when we will be reading “Calendar Girls” by Tim Firth
All are welcome and you don’t have to be a budding actor.
Just come along, have a drink, have a read and have some fun.
We have also been nominated for
Best Poster – “Shrek”

and Best Programme (Barnes Class) – “Shrek” and “Two”
We are very proud to have received these nominations from Noda.
Congratulations to all involved.
The Public Hall Refurbishment
Gosforth Public Hall is receiving some much-needed TLC and Phase 1 is well underway. This is very exciting for both the community and our Society. However, with work happening in our costume, scenery and prop stores, as well as our changing areas, this means we have had to make some difficult decisions regarding the upcoming programme. We are very excited about the new line-up although everything is subject to review as the programme of refurbishment work develops.
When will the work start and how long will it last?
Phase 1 of the work (on the library end of the building) began on 6 October 2025 and is programmed to last for 6 months until the end on March 2026, although external lime rendering will go beyond that to wait for suitable weather conditions. The programme for Phase 2 of the work on the Main Hall will be announced when the funding is secure.
GADS Productions during the refurbishment
During the refurbishment work we are trying to put on as much as possible with the limited facilities. The play “Two” was staged very successfully in October 2025 using the Main Hall only but the customary pantomime in January was not possible. Our next planned show will be a “21st century showcase” in May 2026 featuring songs from modern musicals. This will be directed by Tosh McGregor. Expect glitz, glamour, and jazz hands! We are designing this show so that it can be relocated to another venue if the Main Hall becomes unavailable. We are also organising other ad hoc gatherings to keep members engaged – our Halloween Party in October and our Drama and Improvisation evening in January.
Will the Youth Theatre Group continue?
The weekly Youth Theatre Group returned after the Christmas break on 13 January and we will keep them going for as long as we can. Hopefully this will lead up to a performance of “The Phantom and the Phoenix” in March. When Phase 1 of the work is complete, we may be able to relocate to the Supper Room while Phase 2 work continues.
Plays for Pleasure
P4P usually only runs between shows to keep our active members engaged. So the refurbishment work provides an ideal opportunity for those avid play readers. Moreover, readings are held in the Function Room at the Kellbank so are unaffected by the ongoing work. Dates and times will appear here, on our Socials and in the Seatallen Benefice Magazine.
Will there be any parking at the Hall?
Parking at the Hall will be very limited, apart from a load / unload area for short term use. The construction contractors will need most of the current car parking areas for their construction compounds although they have created safe access walkways to 3 of the 4 doorways, including the disabled access door at the rear of the building. Please drop off near the hairdressers if necessary and park in the free public car park across the road.
