21st Century Showcase is a dazzling, fast-paced musical revue celebrating the best of 21st-century musical theatre. With a setlist drawn exclusively from shows written and first performed since the year 2000, this production pays tribute to the bold voices, fresh stories, and innovative sounds that have reshaped the Broadway stage for a new era. From heart-wrenching solos to roof-raising ensemble numbers, 21st Century Showcase showcases songs from groundbreaking musicals such as Hamilton, Ghost The Musical, Beetlejuice, Hadestown, Six, and more. This revue captures the emotional depth, genre-blending innovation, and cultural relevance that define modern musical theatre. Act One will focus on stories from the past that have inspired writers and composers in the modern day, titled ‘History Has Its Eyes On You’. Historical figures include Alexander Hamilton, the wives of Henry VIII, Greek mythology, and modern events such as 9/11. Act Two, ‘To The World We Dream About And The One We Live in Now’, centres around the changing mode of performance. All the shows in this act have either been adapted from or to the stage from television or film – we’re talking Beetlejuice, Legally Blond, Mary Poppins and Wicked, among others. Tying the evening together is a loose thematic arc centred on change, identity, love, resilience, and belonging—exploring how today’s musicals reflect the joys, struggles, and complexities of contemporary life. Whether you’re a lifelong theatre lover or a newcomer to the stage, 21st Century Showcase is a vibrant, heartfelt celebration of the voices shaping the sound of now.
